TOday, I met someone who gave everything-
The Life That Ended, The Lessons That Didn’t:
THE STORY OF A CADAVER
When I saw the man, lying on the table,
my breath stopped, legs trembled subtle,
The man I felt would wake up and sit
A life that must have struggled before it left…
Curiosity pierced my mind,
must he be a great man and kind
Who was he in the world once bright?
what name drifted through his childhood lanes?
what dreams slept beneath his heart?
What laughter once echoed through his bones?
Maybe he worked under the sun that burned
Or lifted steel and stone,
Maybe he starved on streets
Or his kitchen overflowed with sweets,
Maybe he held tiny hands
Or carried loneliness itself.
Did his heart shatter like glass,
Or did he love till his final breath?
Did he close his eyes, knowing
he’d be the lamp of learning?
Gratitude blooming for what he gave,
A final lesson without words,
A silent teacher shaping our knowledge,
A stranger becoming a guide……
Not in breath but in hush,
Like a fallen tree that still offers a shade,
A light that glows even after the wick is long gone.
Awesome bud!
